The research i've done shows that a gay scientist found evidence of a gay
gene, but no one has been able to duplicate his results.

How many attempts have been made to corroborate his findings?

he has done it three times himself and succeeded while at least two others
have tried and failed.

In scientific research, that is a very serious thing.

I don't know about "very serious" such findings are a part of the scientific
process.

When it comes to researhing genetic behavior, especially one of controversy,
care should be taken not to give false hope, or insight unecessary angst.

It may have been better if he had
quietly coerced other scientists to duplicate his tests,

Sorry?  How would that have been better?

I'm not sure, but is seems plausible concerning the controversy of a gay gene.

Proving that the gay gene exists is a very serious matter.  If it does
exist, then over 4,000 yrs. of religious doctrine must be either changed or
simply buried.

Why?

i've done significanct research into Christianity and have found that the
discovery of gay gene would have serious repercussions throughout society.

Also, gay individuals could then demand special treatment
similiar to other racial minorities, much of which would come out of
taxpayers wallets.

Gosh.  Like what?

I have the impression you are trying to bait me.

There are many other possible negatives that can and
would occure with the "official" acknowledgement of yet another racial
minority/special interest group.  Personally, I think we have enough
problems trying to appease everyone already.

So the solution is to continue to alienate a reasonably large segment of the
American populace?  I don't think anyone should be getting special bennies, but
a fair shot at the moon is owed to everyone.

Are you purposely misreading me?  I am trying to defend the right to choose
a gay lifestyle rather than try and appease yet another minority race.
However, the gay community that I debated with elsewhere distinctly stated
that gay-by-choice is not an option.  I see a fundamental difference between
a society defending the rights of gay-by-choice rather than being forced to
change to accept gay-by-birth.

However, if the gay population is such by mere choice, then none of the
above applies.

Why not?

An individuals right to choose a lifestyle is already enforceable by law.

The more thought I put into this matter, the more it feels like a political
movement.

They have been forced to become a political movement because they were murdered
and discriminated against by those who were not able to find it in themselves
to see people instead of filthy faggots.

Chris

And who forced "them" to parade around society demanding that people treat
them special?  If a man comes to my table at a restaraunt and anounces that
he is gay, then demands to know if I have a problem with that, I think I
might leave with some negativity towards the gay population if that were my
first contact with an "open" homosexual.  I am convinced that much of the
social stigma towards the gay community was perpetuated by some of the early
vocal out-of-the-closet "clowns".
