Well yes, we need a consistent foreign policy but certain foreign policies, even if consistent, are not very good ones to have.

But they are still better than the inconsistent mess we have now.

Some are and some aren’t. A policy that said we would consistently attack (with nuclear weapons) any country that had a leader that said “Bush is a weenie” would be indeed consistent, but worse than what we have now.

   Why does the media keep referring to the troops in Iraq as the “occupation force”?

Because they’re a “force” which is present in a defeated opponent, therefore an “occupying” force. Why? What would *you* call them? I find nothing to object about w.r.t. that particular usage.
