I was in England once. I thought that once you get out of London none of
the roads has a name, under the assumption that if you don't know where you
are then you don't belong there anyway.

For instance, many roads going into London are often referred to as London (...) (25 years ago, 14-Nov-98, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)
