My point was that there couldn't have been demand for a color that we didn't
know about, whereas there is clearly demand for bricks in the colors that we
all have a lot (but never enough) of. I agree that it is not a bad color; I
can see making a sand-red castle -- if I had a lot of pieces. But I have a
lot of gray parts already, I need to supplement the ones I have with bulk
packs. You would have to come out with sand-red arches, tiles, etc to make
it viable. And even then, my kids would call it pink.
I agree that there is also demand for bricks in new colors, and I think it
is good they respond to that. But I still don't understand why Light Gray
was not the first color to "cover" all of the bulk parts now available:
bricks (which are available in Lt Gray), plates, tiles, slopes, etc.
I want to distance myself from some of the harsh remarks made by Doyle et
al. I strongly support LEGO direct, I don't expect everything I want over
night, and I am patient. But being patient just means I am not buying yet,
because I can get the pieces I want. At the same time, I am thrilled with
LEGO getting into the bulk business in a serious, sustainable way.
I just want to vote for coverage in Light Gray. It is a color that is
compatible with any other accenting color, has many special parts available
to enhance creations, and I think would be the biggest seller in bulk.
As a by-the-way, I think the new "sand" colors are superior to the candy
bright colors -- but that is based on the kind of stuff I like to make. It
is hard to make a tank, or mech, or military anything look serious in red,
yellow, and blue.

| (...) Well, at least we are talking about this! And thats what I wanted. I really hope if we keep talking about this subject of light gray bricks, we just might see them next year? Was I harsh......Maybe, but I dont really feel so. Brad is a CEO (...) (23 years ago, 10-Dec-01, to lugnet.lego.direct)
