I liked both trilogys.  However, I came away from Zahn's trilogy with a better
feeling than I did with Anderson's trilogy.  I kind of felt like Anderson was
trying to cash in on Zahn's success, but I still found the books to be quite
good.  I agree with your thoughts on the ending however, it was rather weak.
Come to think of it, so was the end of Zahn's...  It seems like in an effort
to create a plot twist both authors resorted to a cop out.

In any case, I think Zahn's and Anderson's books are good additions to the
Star Wars Universe, although personally I would rather see how Lucas would
have handled the "continuing" story.

In regards to Zahn's use of "Trek-nology," I believe Zahn was already an
accomplished Sci-Fi writer, though I must admit I haven't read any of his
other books.  If that was the case however, it would explain why Zahn missed
the boat on the technology... SW technology is different from most other Sci-
Fi technology.  (But I really don't want to get into a SW VS ST debate... I
prefer SW but I am an ST fan as well...)

What?!  Anderson does a far more competent job than Zahn.  I swear • Zahn thought
he was writing Trek novels.  Lets see he describes Turbolasers as a • beam
(like phasers) in stead of bolts, he gave and X-wing a crappy sub-space • antena
instead of a hyperwave transceiver.  Zahn was the first EU writer and
conseqently the least scruitinized.  (Why does everyone in Zahn's books • have
shimmery hair?)  Don't get me wrong he writes good plots but he is • really bad
at the details.

Oh PL-EEEEEEASE. Kevin Anderson's Jedi Academy Trilogy was built-up
and built-up... over the course of three books, and then they solve the
whole thing by holding hands at the end and using the Force real hard.

Bah.
