First off, I just want to say that I can see my previous attitude in a
different light. I trust that the parties involved understand that there is
no need to flame me via e-mail.
Having said that, after seeing how quickly the situation on lego.com resolved
itself, I no longer feel that Remy's posting privs should be yanked; in fact I
feel somewhat responsible that they were revoked after I tried to convince
Todd to do so.
However, the reasons I felt the way I did still stand. LUGNET as a community
is in a potentially fragile situation with the Lego Company, and should avoid
actions which might legitimately bring in the lawyers. I also disagree with
the publicly accessable == public domain argument. (Take it into
.off-topic.debate or e-mail if you want to discuss that; please keep the
flames in .off-topic.debate .)
I can understand the need to keep a cooler head, and I hope that I can be more
analytical in the future. But, given the same set of circummstances -- and
hot attitudes bouncing back and forth -- I would probably make the same choice
again.
Remy, I'm glad Todd reinstated your privs, and I hope that there are no hard
feelings.
Cheers,
- jsproat

| (...) The first thing you can do, instead of bouncing the server, is to bump off the folks who *flagrantly* flout your request to not post sensitive TLC info. Specifically, *this* info. Personally, I'd yank Remy's posting privs immediately. I'm not (...) (25 years ago, 10-Dec-99, to lugnet.admin.general)
