I can't help but feel that this logic is flawed.  Basically, this argument
goes along the same lines as, "we are physically free to walk out the 7-11
door with an unpaid-for pack of gum, so we should be allowed to".  But the
thing is, is that we as TLC's customers have an unwritten contract with TLC to
act responsibly.

It's not the same analogy at all. More like if outside the 7-11, on a
public sidewalk, there was a big box with a sign over it that said "free
for the taking" and it had gum in it. Are we supposed to read the minds
of the 7-11 owners as to whether they meant it or not? I don't think so.
Does it matter if the gum is on the top layer or if we have to root
around in the box for it? Again, I don't think so.

When you are inside a 7-11 there is an implied contract that you will
respect property rights. But that contract does not extend to areas that
are in public. This is the internet. Anything not behind a firewall is
meant to be viewed. I may be constrained in what I can do with the
information once I view it, but I am only bound by the general
provisions of the site in terms of whether I can view it or not. And the
general provisions of the site are the fairplay verbage.

If you want your property protected, you have to protect it. Locks are
on things to show that it's your intent that people not have free access
to them. This is standard IP law. You have to show intent to protect.
Putting stuff on a public server is not intent to protect, it's intent
to make public. Put it behind a firewall if you intend to protect.

Again, I always err on the side of protecting property and protecting
rights. But this seems very clear cut to me. Arguing from authority, I
know, but if *I* don't think that rights were violated, who but a true
paranoid could? TLG gave the info away to anyone enterprising enough to
nose around for it. NOTHING like the retailer catalog thing (and by the
way I think Huw is aces, he did the right thing from start to finish
based on the information he had available to him at each step).

It seems that there are no links from the "set database" to the images yet. The images still work, but I could not find any that were not listed (perhaps I am being web stupid however...)
