By the same token, An 8-wide tarin layout in the same area as a 6-wide layout
will (from a distance) look MORE toy-like simply because the trains will have
a shorter run before 'chasing their tails'. Or, put another way, if you are
into relistic operation you need to establish several depots/stations on your
layout from which to run trains & send them to. Using the larger (8 wide)
scale under the same space restrictions will limit the realism of the inter-
station distances and thus create a LESS REALISTIC OVERALL EFFECT.
Everything related to modelling trains involves the art of compromise. If you
spend time creating a more detailed train you compromise the time you have
available to play with/run it, if you spend time collecting as many orginal
mint/boxed Lego models as you can, then you compromise the time you have to be
more creative etc etc.
And, if you spend time rabbiting on on the internet you compromise the time
you have available to collect, build and run any trains at all!
