I would really hope that they would provide a means to upgrade current • motors
to "DCC Ready", if that is in fact the case, personally I would love to • see a
LEGO product out of the box(es) be able to be digitally controlled, • perform
certain actions (movements) dependant on sensors or relays around the • track,
perhaps even a TLG video camera mounted in the nose (did you ever see the
Lionel layout designed for rock icon Neal Young's paralyzed son? It's • amazing)
If any of this should come to light it will be one more reason for me to • build
my train system "into" my walls and through my house :)

I think it would be difficult to provide some kind of "consumer upgrade" to
existing 9V train motors for any type of variable motion, but for peripheral
use, i.e., lights, sound, etc. all you would have to do is connect the top
power output of the motor to the RCX, and from there to lights or whatever.

Somehow, I can't see any upgrade for a motor that would be compatible with
the stated age range of the trains (8-12 years old).  Imagine the
instructions:  "1) Ask to borrow daddy's hacksaw, wire strippers, and
soldering gun.  2)..."

Personally, I would like to see something like this added to all the cargo
elements of the train system, like 4552, 4555, and 4565, being able to
remotely add and remove cargo from a train, remotely fill and empty hoppers,
(don't know about tankers, though, that could get messy!); or how about a
4561 that has interior lights that come on when the sides are lifted?  Or a
pizza vending machine that works?  (OK, now I'm reaching.)

Time to get back to work, 3 briefings to give tomorrow, and I am definitely
*not* a PowerPoint Ranger!
