I don't know what you're asking here? Do I deny there were celebrations? Of
course not, that's pretty obvious. And I don't think the Arabs are denying
the celebrations either, just specific portions of the initial footage shown
in America. The Palestinian Authority did not allow such footage to be taken
since it would only foster American hatred (or further hatred) toward the
Palestinians. At the same time, and tragically, the Palestinians perhaps
feel vindicated that Israel's biggest ally was attacked. From their point of
view, which is largely one of frustration and hopelessness, perhaps they
feel justice was served. That's just my guess. I don't think there is any
inherent evil or inhumanity in the Palestinian people who celebrated because
in any other circumstance, like most decent human beings, I'm sure they'd
feel just as shocked and outraged by the attack on America. We shouldn't
condone such behavior, but at least understand why someone would act that way.

Drop that though, what basis do you have to claim that any part of it was not >genuine?  CNN really does insist that it's all true, and I have a hard time >doubting them in this case.

I'm just passing on what I heard in the international news.

My point, since you were asking, is that palestinians (not all, but some, >perhaps most?) were celebrating this attack. And would have probably >continued to do so if Arafat didn't clamp down, trying to do (successful) >damage control on his PR.

Understood. I know as American's we cannot help but take strong offense to
such tasteless behavior; but let's be honest, we do the same thing. It's all
stupid, in my opinion, but how can you stop it? If a disenfranchised people
such as the Palestinians perceive the ally of their oppressor as a bully,
and are so blindly inclined to lump all Americans as bad (and don't deny we
do the same to other cultures) then of course the frustration will transcend
to celebration when their bully gets it. Like a said, it's all one big human
tragedy.
