It came to be by a UN resolution. I am not saying this was a just
resolution, but was the only solution for this problem really to put Israel
to war the day after it was founded? Probably not ... and they lost the war,
so it wasn't even an effective solution. Since that time, you could list
thousands of incidents on both sides, where the question remains: Was
violence really the only way to handle this?

I have a few questions for you: Is Arafat a terrorist? If not, was he ever
one? If yes, why, then, is it more important, that, say, Menachem Begin may
have been a terrorist in the 30s?
Is it important to know exactly who is / has been a terrorist? Wouldn't it
suffice to recognize that both sides did enough evil, and that it is high
time to stop that?
