I can't believe it, but I asked my wife where the Connect4 game is, and she donated
the damned thing to Goodwill just last week!!!!
I've played it a lot with the kids, and the standard board is (I think) 6x7 = 42 squares.
From experience, we only ever placed 10 to 15 pieces each before the game was
determined, so 20 to 30 moves. At 30 seconds per move....that IS a long game.
At 10 seconds per move it's a lot faster.
Hmmm, what about Vision Command? :-)
If your bot is smart, it will use the idle time to figure out the opponent's
likely move and then counter it. The opponent only ever has 7 possible moves, so
the game is nowhere near as complicated as everyone thinks.
I like the idea of playing simultaneous games, and with all of the Control Labs
you have at your disposal, it seems like a good idea to use them so that the
game play can be a bit quicker....
I have a couple of spare 150MHz laptops I can bring for display and control
purposes.
