This is a good idea, but I wonder how many people would actually have a working
prototype by then. We all like procrastinating...

Why not just hook up your homing
sensor to the other guys RCX? That way when you park your robot after moving,
the other guy knows its his turn.

because not everyone will use a home sensor.   I could just as easily
drive my X for 3 seconds knowing that it will be in the home position.
Sure I'm over driving my motor, but a clutch gear solves that.

Sorry.

I don't care if you don't use a homing sensor, that isn't really the point. If
we are going to use a sensor port for the "wire communication" why can't we just
use a touch sensor instead? Have your gantry drive into the sensor to signify
its done. And you still have all three motor ports. Sounds simple enough to me.

but we either have to choose to "lose" one sensor and one motor  or live
with IR.

No. I'm fine with IR, but this silly "wire communication" is a total waste of a
motor port. Besides, doesn't the touch sensor approcach lend itself well to
human players?

now maybe we can come up with a few ways to lower that.

has anyone played with the a direct wire from sensor to sensor?

I wonder... You mean flip flop between active and passive modes?

Rob
