(...) Yes. As long as you specify the extension, LDraw doesn't care what it is. LEdit might be a different story, I don't know. (...) Don't use MAKELIST, it can't handle more than 1000 parts. Hey gang, For a while now I've wanted a way to sort the entries in a .DAT file according to X-Y-Z coordinates, that way after I build a file in MLCad I can sort the elements so they're in an order much like original LEGO instructions (bottom to top, (...) Yes, I run original LDraw.exe from Win 3.1/DOS 6.22 three times a year (in my 486/25 at my parents' home). I also use DOS versions of Arj.exe and PK[Un]Zip in batch procedures and when I want full control. I will probably use a DOS machine when (or (...) (24 years ago, 18-Oct-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

A few things (any old-timers feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about anything): 1. LDraw/LEdit (the root of all derivative work) are DOS programs. As such, they can never support more than 8.3 filenames. 2. James Jessiman--the author of these (...) (24 years ago, 17-Oct-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Hello Steve, I don't know what happened to the source code of Ldraw and Ledit? LDraw and Ledit are the only programs that are limited to the 8.3 scheme (perhaps one or two old tools too). Seems there has been a resurgence of L3P and L3PAO use lately (I know I've been doing a lot!) and people have found a few bugs. It has been brought to my attention that v0.9.1 is incompatible with Win95. This is due to a screwup on my part in using a function call that didn't exist in Windows 95. I have zipped up a replacement .exe file which fixes the problem (by using (...) (24 years ago, 10-Oct-00, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev)

I'm not sure what L3P/L3Lab do, but in LDView I require the part's base filename to not end with a letter (as well as being in the parts directory) in order to treat it as a part for the purpose of seams. I did this because I noticed a number of (...) (24 years ago, 10-Oct-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Lars Hassing in another thread recently pointed out that subparts contained within the PARTS directory will appear with seams during rendering. Is there any way to prevent this? More specifically, in which directory should one place subparts if (...) (24 years ago, 9-Oct-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Is there any way to set LEdit to substitute certain parts for simpler, faster- rendering stand-in parts, a la STUDLINE? Or is there a way to set a specific part to make such a substitution? I'm working on a biggish model, and I weary of watching (...) (24 years ago, 9-Oct-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)
