Cool.  One advantage to having ldraw.org 'memberships' would be the • ability
of users to provide feedback on software.  Especially the ratings.
Comments would be nice, but I'd want comments to be reviewed (not
necessarily by the software authors) before they were posted.  This would
be to keep a decent signal-to-noise ratio.

Well, its up to Dan how much he's willing to put into it.  I'm greatful for
what we're getting right now - an easy way to manage software and authors.
If there's more to come, or if whatever system is built so it can be added
on to by another contributor, that would be great.  User memberships would
be an advantage too - we could get an idea of the number of users there are,
they could give feedback like you suggested, and we could also get
demographic information about who uses LCAD, etc and what people want to see
in the future.

Needless to say, I'm all for it!

(...) I second that... I feel a little funny rating my own apps... after all, if I didn't think it was a 5, I wouldn't have taken the time to write it... but that doesn't mean it stacks up in importance or quality compared to other programs. J (24 years ago, 17-Oct-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

(...) That's fine -- keep the membership/feedback idea for later. (...) I was thinking more of memberships for people who would include themselves in 'the organization known as ldraw.org', not all LDraw users. But, whatever. :) Steve (24 years ago, 17-Oct-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)
