Ok folkz, Beat this!! I'm now offering a contest about making a front wheel drive system, with steering and independent suspension on both wheels. :) I'v done this with "normal" technic parts (without part nr 2999, 2738, 6540 as found in set #8880. I was slow on Bionicle in the begining too. I built the models and /liked/ them, but really didn't know where to go from there. Yesterday when I went to Wal-Mart, I saw a Bionicle set on a 50% sale. The set number was 8560 and it was originally priced at $9.78 cdn. I have a couple thoughts about this. I think someone said they tried to put a single motor into the 8466, using the gearbox, and that didn't work. Someone else put the 8475 motors (2 motors) into the same model with success. Two motors are better (...) (22 years ago, 2-Oct-02, to lugnet.technic)

i'm confused. I have read that if you were to gear the 8475 motor down to the same speed as the mindstorm motors, they are LESS powerful. I have also saw somone motorise the 8466 without any gearing down using the 8475 motors, successfully. Now if (...) (22 years ago, 2-Oct-02, to lugnet.technic)

I received 8431 today and have done a brief comparisson between its instructions and those from 8460. I was just looking at the original instructions for the 8460 on Brickshelf. I think what we are seeing in the picture is actually the 1x6 beam that holds the control cab onto the side of the turntable. The original has a 1x4 and 1x6 grey beam at the (...) Have you taken a look at the 4X4 Off roader 8466? It has very heavy shocks. They are the same size as the large gray or dark grey shocks just with alot heaver spring and yellow in color. That is a pretty neat assembly, and one could probably reroute each wheel's geartrain to a differential somewhere in the back as well. It might be worth replacing the crown gear/16-tooth gear linkage near each wheel with a 20-tooth bevel (...) (22 years ago, 26-Sep-02, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Øyvind, It is not unusual for LEGO to include extra numbers of small parts, including bushes, pins and 8 tooth gears (also 1x1 round plates etc in non-technic sets). Look at this picture: (URL) at photo on backside of the instructionbook (upper right corner of picture). Arent there TOO many parts in this set? All the pieces on the table is from the newly bought set. There are 5 Techinc Pin 3/4 (partnr 32002) but (...) (22 years ago, 22-Sep-02, to lugnet.technic)

No, this is not normal. I think you need to check the instructions again. My space shuttle worked without problems. Obviously I didn't need modifications. I don't know how I'm gonna feel in a few years time, but at 32 I've no problems being a Lego (...) (22 years ago, 22-Sep-02, to lugnet.technic)

I can't change the poll's data in any way. It's on Lugnet's sever and after it's "on the air" only Lugnet admins can manipulate it [1].
