I guess the Technic Handle is discontinued. As for the
Technic Pin 1/2 -> Technic Pin 3/4 substitution, as
you can see:

They only used the 1/2 pin in that context because of the lack of something
like the 3/4 pin. Now that it is introduced it only makes sense to use it
instead.
When I built my copy of 8460, I immediately took some 3/4 pins from my part bin
and replaced those 1/2 pins.

Definitely. I'm extremely happy for all the AFOLs that can now enjoy this model
without the absurd price tag eBay had on it.
Oh, and the Airtech Claw Rig is without a doubt one of the great
ones. I think it's second only to the 8480 Shuttle and the
8880 Super Car. Make sure you don't skip the alternative model!

| I received 8431 today and have done a brief comparisson between its instructions and those from 8460. Overall I think the sets are nearly identical, except for some part substitutions that Lego made due to the fact that some of the 8460 parts aren't (...) (22 years ago, 2-Oct-02, to lugnet.technic)
