8475 motors

i'm confused. I have read that if you were to gear the 8475 motor down to
the same speed as the mindstorm motors, they are LESS powerful.
I have also saw somone motorise the 8466 without any gearing down using the
8475 motors, successfully. Now if you were to gear the mindstorms motor to
the same speed as the 8475 motors, then they arn't powerfull enough to drive
the 8466, which suggest the 8475 motors are MORE powerful. Can somone please
help me as I am wondering weather to buy the 8475. Unfortunately i don't
have the money to find out for myself.
