This one ranks as my all-time favorite technic set. Everything is just about
perfect here; functionality, piece selection (both specialized and generic),
looks, originality (for its time), alternate model, etc. You don't see that
everywhere. ;)
As you said, an air tank really helps while operating the truck. It fits in
quite nicely in the space just behind the battery box. (a few parts need to
be changed around to hold it in place but that's about it)
I actually did not know about this set at all until only about a year ago,
although I was familiar with the others models of that time. (Supply ship,
etc.) As far as I can tell, for some reason it does not appear in any of the
US catalogs. I got a used copy from ebay and immediately loved the thing,
and a few months later decided to get a second one for extra parts. If Lego
decides to re-release this, I would probably buy a third one too. :D In
fact, I like this model so much that my current custom project is basically
a somewhat souped-up version of the same thing.
I reviewed this set when I was still working on my technic website, in case
you're interested:

BTW on a side note, you mentioned the wheels from the 5591 set; do you have
this model? If so, what is your opinion of it? I am thinking of trying to
acquire one (ebay/bricklink/etc.) since I have heard some good things about
it, but I don't have any model team sets and so am not really sure what they
are like in general.

| (...) I used wheels from 5571, not 5591. As for 5571... I mostly stick to Technic, but for some reason 5571 appealed to me. It was my first Model Team set, and I have been very pleased with it. Model Team is a lot different from Technic. Instead of (...) (22 years ago, 3-Oct-02, to lugnet.technic)

| This is probably old hat to everyone who has played with 8868, but I'll ramble on anyway... I had never seen set #8868 before until the recent Technic set poll placed it among other favorites of mine such as 8480 and 8880. The cover picture looked a (...)
