Here's the latest on this end: I have some kind of incomplete cross compiler that I build using Max Bowsher's script.... I unpacked the legOS directory did 'make OSTYPE=cygwin' And now I can download helloworld (which is compiled for some reason) (...) (22 years ago, 18-Apr-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

I just tried the 2000r1_i686-cygwin32...00-hms.zip and now I get "make: *** No rule to make target I think during my tinkering I'm after deleting some necessary makefile or something, if there's anyone who can pinpoint what I'm missing it would be (...) I used binutils-2.12 and gcc-2.95.3 and Max Bowsher's build-h8x script. I got what I thought was a successful "ALL DONE" message, but I still can not make new .lx files for the RCX. Well, after a fairly frustrating couple of days, I was finally able to build legOS-0.2.5 yesterday evening. I will get to the details in a minute. Environment: Windows XP Version 5.1.2600 Serial IR tower on COM2: Following INSTALL-cygwin.html: Cygwin installed from www.cygwin.com using setup.exe and internet install as shown in (...) I can get binutils done, but in gcc make ALL_TARGET_MODULES="" and make INSTALL_TARGET_MODULES="" install do not work...they come up with errors. I'm using the most recent version of cygwin. Dear legOS people, i am using cygwin-1.3.10-1 ( cygcheck -c) and h8300-hms-gcc 3.0.3 Here are some notes on legos-0.2.5.2 . Well problem 1, you need configure, not config. You may be interested in the attached script, which when invoked with the paths to unpacked binutils and gcc source directories, automates the process. I'm still following the instructions from (URL) far I've got legOS compiled and working (I can transfer the kernel and previously compiled programs to the rcx) And I've got binutils installed...i think, no error messages at least. I can get the makefiles made for the cross compiller. ../binutils-version/configure --target=h8300-hms --disable-nls --prefix=/lego-ms as per Max Bowsher's instructions at (URL) when I do "make" I get lots of errors Then after "make install" I get (...) I'm using an iBook running MacOS 9.1 I've installed MacNQC 3.0a4. It worked fine with a serial tower prior to installing the USB drivers. Hi, I installed legOS and cygwin a while ago ... OK, it was version 0.2.4 ;-) But what I've done differently is that I didn't took the original gcc-sources from gnu.org, but the sources of the compiler in cygwin. after about an hour it finished ...but i'm still having problems when i type "make realclean" i get a big mess of stuff with the only noticable error being "gccw32: not found" and that occurs at the beginning. then i type "make depend" i get a small (...) it seems make dosn't install by default with the cgywin setup file. i reinstalled cgywin with "make" and other needed modules: ash autoconf automake bash binutils cpio cygwin diff file fileutils findutils flex gcc grep less login make mingw patch (...) But I find not very practical to be forced to use the terminal to switch off the RCX or start the program again, expecially when you are attending a contest or take your robot to an exhibit. I've released another version of BricxCC. This release fixes a couple minor bugs. I’ve never had any problems with the light sensor reading fast enough, and I have a robot that runs pretty fast. How are you trying to follow the line? The hardware can get a light sensor reading every 1 mS. Is the process that is reading the light sensor at a high enough priority? I tried doing "dll -pX prog.lx" instead of "dll prog.lx -pX" and it works! Thanks. It would be good if Joe Wooley's alteration to program.c could be included in the next version of legOS because it does the trick with the "keeping alive" and "error (...) Well, I am sorry to say that I don't have a solution for that problem. I haven't experienced this before. Hello.. I've just upgraded my RIS 1.0 to version 2.0 and it appears Lego have stopped using the Spirit.ocx. Sorry, no. That's the one difference; it no longer says error deleting program and I don't get any errors when downloading to the RCX. After making the change, do you still get "Error deleting program"? or other errors while downloading the program? Your assumption is correct, it will only switch to a program slot if there is a valid program there. I had problems sending programs (...) (22 years ago, 8-Apr-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

The only thing I could think of is if NQC thinks you are generating code for some other device (e.g. CyberMaster). Try adding -Trcx2 to the command line to force NQC to target RCX2. I just tried this and it has no effect. By the way, I'm using Cygwin B20 under Windows 98 with a com port IR thing, and LegOS 0.2.5. The same thing happened using WinLegOS and 0.2.3. I had similar problems when using legOS with CONF_TM defined in boot/config.h What I found was that the lnp handler was not getting enough processing time and was missing some data at times. A cautionary note for situations where RL 2.5 and 2.0 co-exist as in schools which are in transition to upgrading their software. As mentioned in the RLS doc ((URL) there is mention of communicating with the sourceforge maillist legos-devel@lists.so...forge.net. I don't think this is the greatest idea for a couple of reasons. Aaagh! Cygwin B20! That's about 4 years old, IIRC. The current version is 1.3.10, soon to be 1.3.11. Get it from www.cygwin.com - and where did you manage to find B20 ? (...) It means very little. The first time you run Cygwin, it complains about the missing tmp directory. In order to get around this, create a directory 'tmp' from within Cygwin's bash shell using the command: mkdir /tmp This will get rid of that (...) The 2.0 on the RCX 2.0 is purely for decoration, there's no user visible difference whatsoever to the RCX 1.0 without the jack.
