A cautionary note for situations where RL 2.5 and 2.0 co-exist as in
schools which are in transition to upgrading their software.
Be aware that if an RCX has RL 2.5 firmware, programs downloaded from RL
2.0 will only go to slot #3. So additional programs cannot be downloaded
to slot #4 and #5. This can be a hassle if you need alternate programs
to test your robot.
It's not a problem if you have an RCX with RL 2.0 firmware and you try
to download programs from RL 2.5. The program will warn that the RCX has
old firmware and will request to download the latest (2.5) firmware. You
have no choice but to click download to continue.
