You may have to think slightly out of the box for this one, but have you
looked at Playmobil themes recently? They have excellent Castles,
Pirates, Space and Construction sets. So good in fact, that if I had
children, I would be giving them serious consideration.

I do consider Playmobil to be a major competitor of LEGO's, in terms of idea space if not in terms of marketshare, and there certainly is a lot of similarity between certain Playmobil themes and LEGO themes.
