Hi Mike, your problem is not because of an error in legOS. But what you do is that you start your subroutines and then you leave main()! Leaving main means that all your allocated memory is freed. Hey! I've put in the memory, and the LCD screen, and I have interactive C running! Pretty cool that I can print messages to the screen. So problem solved! Using the programming environment that comes with Mindstorms is a little frustrating in that I want to simply capture data streams in a data file and dump it to, say, a spreadsheet. Actually, I wouldn't recommend using the simulator. My original intention was to develop the core of a simulator thus enabling other people to make a full-fledged application with nice menus and dialog boxes. Since that hasn't happened, the (...) Hi All, I'm basically making a plotter. I'm using 2 parallel rows of 1x4 racks as a track. When the powered 8 tooth gear crosses from one rack to the next it tends ride up on top of the teeth of the rack. I can't seem to find out what's going on. (...) Hi there, The more serious problem observed when trying to get legousbtower, usb-uhci and nqc to work togeher was that the tower hanged after one complete round trip. There are devices sold by Radio Shack/Future Shop/etc called (i think) "remote extenders". Basically, they have 2 pieces. 1 is an infrared receiver and radio transmitter, and the other is a radio reciever and ir transmitter. I think they are one-way (...) There was a very undetcible component-side solder bridge between pins 2 and 3 of RP4. I might not know until tomorrow when I can get a replacement for RP4 (apparently I'm not very good at desoldering, and I didn't see the bridge at all until I (...) Best source is other Mindstorms Sets - preferrably heavily discounted. Older RIS sets have gone in chain stores for as low as $69. Hi, Thanks for your reply. RP4 has the part # 88102G, and adjacent pairs of pins have resistance of 1k (ie, 4 discrete resistors). Ok, Tell me if this sounds really strange... Well..I did kinda, Some foreground information is needed before I can explain that. The lego touch sensors arent simple toggle throw type switches, they have a precision, where the touch sensor can have values ranging ( for example ) 0 to 100, where (...) I've been thinking about how I might replace the RCX's IR communication with something that doesn't require line-of-sight, eg using RF. Sam, can you check the serial input circuit. if this is not correct, then the 6811 won't stay in boot mode. make sure RP4 is a 1Kx4 resistor pack (4 discrete resistors) and not a 1Kx7. also make sure R15 is installed. see (URL) . also, try putting (...) Ok, RP4 was fine. I've put a logic tester "MODA" line on the chip (from what I can figure, this is this pin that gets the signal from the stop switch), and it is recieving a signal when I press the stop switch. I have seen several postings about getting NQC working with the USB tower under Linux. I suspect that a few things will continue to be tweaked for a little while, and since I can't build/test the Linux software myself, I am hoping that someone else (...) (...) I misspoke. In the BIOS it can be either COM2 or COM4 and it is set to COM4. I saw it listed in the RH6 startup as ttyS03, and misremembered it as COM3. It is COM4, I am using /dev/ttyS03. As far as I know, any functionality that uses the webcam will not work in version 2.5. As a temporary solution, you could use an external program to capture a webcam image, and then use the image loading VI in RoboLab to work with it. I haven't (...) Hi all. I've been successfully using NQC on an old NEC 486/50 laptop with only 16MB of RAM for a while. The laptop was running muLinux, a very limited floppy-based distro.
