Fred,
You recently pointed to the new "cricket" controller. Its pretty cool,
however as you recall I am a big fan of the Miniboard, having used several
in various robots over the years.
I recently got a kit from Microchip that they use to teach their pic
classes called the MPLAB ICD. Any way it lets you do in-circuit debugging
with their '87x chips. So if you built a "miniboard" with the 44pin PLCC
version if the PIC 16F877 you'd have plenty of flash, same I/O (8 channels
A/D, parallel bits, PWM built in, etc) Plus you could get cool development
tools for "free".
