In my Status Report post, I mentioned:
|
We have provided TLG with an official Issues List, which is comprised
of all of the fan issues we have gathered. Thats right, everything from
the color variances, to suggestions for new sets, to set availabilty. of
the official comprised of all of the fan issues we have gathered.
|
The issues list is now posted on the .Ambassadors sidebar.
These issues, regarding LEGO products and services worldwide, should come
as no surprise to anyone, as they have been brought to the Ambassadors
attention repeatly over the past few months/years. We are working with TLG
to have these items addressed and answered, as an ongoing effort of 2-way
communication.
We are confident that you, the LEGO fans, will have more issues for us to
add to this list. Please feel free to post them in this newsgroup.

My issues are:
All boxes should be the same size - for ease in storage.
|
--Theres a subjective box size to price point that is present in consumers.
Also, you can fit many small sets in small boxes on a shelf--less
restocking, and more sales available. We all know how frequently
Wal-Mart stocks, and how easy it is to find someone to go look for
a set you want. (note the sarcasm on that last sentence)
|
Have someone else name the Bionicles - I cant pronounce any of them even
after watching all three movies.
|
--Bionicle names started with Maori tribe names, and a lot of the buying
public likes the names, and youd be suprised at how well they
pronounce
Sure could use some 1x5 and 1x7 bricks and plates.
--That requires new molds, and additional molding capacity. Both of those
mean more capital expenditures. besides--wheres your imagination?
you cant use 1x1s/1x4s and 1x2s/1x3s in an interlocking pattern?
I put 1x5 and 1x7 bricks and plates right up there with town Jr.
juniorization. I think thats just silly, and from a business
perspective, its probably not needed.
Date all the bricks so it easier to reconstruct sets with bricks from the
same year.
--Ok, what business do you work for? You mean that you want TLG to spend the
extra money to put more 4-digit numbers on a
brick/plate...specifically, what business purpose would that serve?
Thats just extra cost on the mold production, and really wouldnt
affect the general public in any way.
Dont duplicate set numbers.
--Give me an example. TLG is now using 5 digit numbers so they dont reuse
older 4 digit numbers. There may be some cases of reusing numbers,
but I think its very small. Do you recall a time when TLG used two
different set numbers for the same set, depending on the
country/distribution area?
And put a name on all sets, dont get lazy.
--If a set has a name on it, then it has to go to a specific country. Some
boxes have names, and are sold in that country accordingly. However, if
sales are exceptional, then product has to be moved from another region.
How many languages are spoken in Europe (home of TLG)? Would you want
to see all those languages on the cover of a box, or would you rather
see the set in all its glory on the front of the box?
Let the sales people at Shop at Home know what is going on so when I ask a
question about sets the conversation does not end up with me giving them more
information than what Lego has provided them.
--This depends on who you talk to and when. Ive experienced there is a core
knowledge base employed from around 8 AM to 5 PM EST (roughly
speaking), that knows the product. After that, calls move to an
overflow center. The overflow center is probably outsourced, and are
not as well trained. If youd like a full staff 24/7, expect the price
of product to go up.
Dont outsource customer service to India.
--Unfortunately, this is the nature of business today. Im losing a lot of
work to a team in China that Im currently training to take my job--Im not
happy about it, but I dont have a say in the matter.
Please do not outsource the making of the bricks to Antarctica.
--again, nature of business today. (and Im sure you dont mean Antartica..)
Bring out a new City Series called The Other Side of the Tracks to go with
the Cafe Corner (Liquor Store, Adult Book Store, High rise public housing,
Check Cashing Center and maybe a Pay Day Advance, and a Pawn Shop, Hooters.)
These have always been on the top of my If I owned Lego
--I figure youre being sarcastic there. TLG has a specific family image
that they need to uphold. None of those items are inline with the image
TLG wants to have. Now, nothings stopping you from getting bulk pieces
and making your own sets like that... Go take a look at The Blacksmiths
Wife (complete with rotating pole for female figs to spin around), or
even house of the fallen angels for inspiration there...names of MOC
builders are not included...if they want to speak up, they can...

Most of these were ment as a joke. There is no way they could date the bricks
or make the boxes the same size. I never expect to see an adult book store set.
I was poking fun at some of the people that take things too seriously. But
someone did find a Hooters minifig. Any that public image has not always been
so clean. There was an earily lighter, a plastic gun, and the later set that
was a drug smuggling theme. As well as all the bank break-ins. Someone even
pointed out the torture in a Batman set. And yes, the Sigretten printed brick.
Not that I see anything wrong with what they have done, to each his own. However
these is a lack of knowledge for the folks at customer service. I find a set on
Brickset or someother site and they have no idea. They are kept in the dark
about most things, corp security I imagine. Even customer service folks are not
too well informed. I speak with them weekly. After 9EST the phones are
answered in California (or maybe India, but right now it is CA) and they are
clueless. Dont take everything so seriously. It is all rather funny as Lego
will do what Lego wants to do. The owners have no boss and the new CFO rules
the roost. John P
