(...) I tore into one of these a while back. Nice PWM motor control and encoders on the wheels. The reason they don't work is that whoever coded up the PID loop to control the motors obviously had no idea what he/she was doing. I have not yet taken (...) I really like the leg design and gearing. Gears are like muscles for mecha. The more gears, the more powerful the machine (appears to be).
