Hello all,

I've recently completed a model of a tube train like this one

If any of you have flown into Heathrow and caught the tube up to central London,
this is the train you will have ridden in

The lego model has been built 6-wide and compressed in length to suit the
curves. Both prototype and model are noticably lower than the 'surface' stock
and required the use of an articulaed design to limit the intrusion of the motor
bogey.(see pics below)

The model uses plenty of SNOT techniques - those doors are inset by less than
half a stud, for example. Hope you like it.

Hello Jon

Great looking train !

Is it a 6 wide or a 7 wide ?

Thanks,Teunis

Hello Teunis,

The tube trains are 6-wide. They are running alongside standard trains which are
also 6-wide so visually it was important to ensure that, if anything, they look
a little narrower in keeping with the character of the prototype. There are no
projections beyond 6 studs (like handrails etc.) but instead there are
indentations to provide relief.

Here is another pic showing a typical London Underground station with two  tube
trains waiting at the ready. I've cheated of course, by using two ends of the
same unit.
