I think that a good way to have a lasertag competition is to have an arena with many walls to hide behind, and have the robots programmed with different tactics of defense and offense. It's not hard to make an IR light beacon on top of each robot, (...) (26 years ago, 27-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

If you remove the lens from (I suspect) most pointers, you won't get a beam of light at all, even a conical one. If a motor stalls, it draws a lot of current (compared to normal operation). You can measure that quite easilyusing dedicated chip, or by measuring the voltage over a small resistor in series with the motor: if more current is draw, the voltage drop (...) Yes, you can upgrade your HB to 64K and then use Interactive C on it. After the reset HB operates in a 32KB mode that is compatible with the original HB memory mapping. Todd, your point about handyboard is well taken. And there are many real-world reasons why successful groups grow to cover many allied topics. I use two resistors in series with the motor (one between the + side of the sensor port and the + side of the motor, and the other between the - side of the motor and the - side of the sensor port). Additional observations: - at the start of any program, the Scout emits barcode 004 which triggers a 'steam puff' sound in the Code Pilot (if it's in record mode). The Scout seems to emit no other barcodes (but motor left, motor right, motor float (...) (26 years ago, 29-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)
