These things are commercially avaible already, my uncle has one. If I remember
correctly, it was made by Husqvarna. The major drawback is that the solar power
driven one is +/- Hfl 8000 ($4000). One with batteries is half as expensive.
Really fun to see riding around though, made me definetly want the Mindstorms.
It used a random algorithm, with detection of an area with long grass (higher
power use), then it moved in a square around that spot. Worked pretty well, my
uncle has a meter wide corridor between front and back garden and it had no
trouble with that. Border detection was done with a cable or wire of some sort
around the garden and the trees.
Sorry if this is off-topic.

| Hi. Yes I mostly lurk, but what a great listserv this is!! I recently acquired a Robolab for my 8th grade science classes - WAY COOL. Also, I recently went to a Lego sponsored training workshop, where the Lego Rep. tells me that you can still get (...) (25 years ago, 26-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)
