Depending on the wheels/tracks your bot has, and the surface it moves on,
there is often a good chance that you will experience slippage, i.e. the
bot will be blocked but the wheels/tracks are still moving. Bumpers are
a decent way to compensate for that (or you you can get really fancy and
use a (non-Lego) 3D positioning sensor).
