Scott,

Funny how with one sentence you say you should not worry about what other
people think about purchases, and then in the next sentence, you are worried
about other people's purchases. " st00pid purchases that adults make (like
an oversize SUV as a commuter vehicle).

I agree people who purchase such vehicles though, well within their rights, are
selfish and ignorant.  Not the normal kind of ignorance, but a willful
ignorance of the true cost of such vehicles.

The US does not fight wars in the mideast for anything other than stable, LOW,
gas prices.
The environmental impact of fossil fuel burning is obvious and well
established.  Though cars only contribute about 30% (I might be a little off)
to this, they represent one of the easiest pathways to fossil fuel use
reduction.

I own a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban, I love it, and I would not trade it for the
world.

It may some day come to that.

It is my choice, just as it is my choice to buy LEGO products. If you
don't like it,  fine. Calling SUV purchases "stupid" is just as bad as
calling buying LEGO "stupid". It is called market forces.

No, they are stupid purchases.  This means that the market force is also
stupid.

FUT off.topic.debate, but I won't be there.
