More objectively, my definition of ldraw.org is broader than Tim's.  When I
use the label 'ldraw.org' to refer to an organization of people, I mean to
include everyone who has helped to shape the parts library, our practices,
expectations and community.  But I wouldn't want to accuse anyone of
belonging to ldraw.org if they think they don't.

I think that your view of ldraw.org should be called 'LCAD community'
because it includes people outside ldraw.org, while Tim's view would be
the correct definition of ldraw.org. That's the way I see things (but I
could be wrong) and this topic alone could start another long thread.

Notice that my list focused on contributions made to the part library, over
contributions to the ldraw.org website--that might reveal something about
my bias.

Yes, and I agree with you. If we're going to use ldraw.org (or any
other name) in the license then it should include part authors.

I'd generally agree with Tim that part authors aren't necessarily members
of ldraw.org.  But some people are both.  And I'd think that regular part
authors are pretty likely to be members of ldraw.org.

I think all part authors can be considered part of the LCAD community.
I'd rather use this name instead of ldraw.org because it's less
restrictive.

(...) I don't think it's a matter of correct/incorrect/right/wrong. It's a matter of agreeing on the definition for 'ldraw.org'. Or, it's a matter of deciding the parameters for the perimeter of our group, and then deciding on a name for that group. (...) (24 years ago, 25-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

(...) Isn't that a self-answering question? ;) Substitute my statement for 'that group' in your statement, and you get: "And who would (everyone who includes themselves in 'the group known as ldraw.org') be?" I guess we'd have to take a roll-call. I (...) (24 years ago, 21-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)
