I've been messing around a little with LDraw and POV-Ray, and I made a few scenes of classic space guys. (URL) (22 years ago, 25-Dec-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.cad)

  updated my caboose comparisson page

I just updated my caboose comparisson page. (URL) see how these models look on different systems runnign the same software. Chris (22 years ago, 25-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

Re: Restrictions on color use in parts and subparts

(...) There's already a fix for this posted to the PT, but yes colors above 16 should not be used for Quads, Triangles, or Lines only Type 1 lines (Subparts). (...) It's under the Parts Tracker Reference. Here's the link: (URL) (22 years ago, 24-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Size of electric plugs (4.5 / 12 V)  [DAT]

(...) I do have these parts, but I'm confused by your statement of incompatibility. The pins on the plug (s\2775s01.dat) are modelled with a diameter of 7LDu. The pin holes in the end of the motor (s\6216mb.dat) are also modelled with a diameter of (...) (22 years ago, 24-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Restrictions on color use in parts and subparts

(...) (this is an old thread) Is this still true? I've found some part in the 2002-04 update that use color 19 (see 973p39.dat). Where's the reviewers FAQ that you mentioned earlier? Leonardo (22 years ago, 24-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: BFC and details

(...) :) (...) It's pretty important to me... BFC can help somewhat with rendering speed. Getting the correct polygon wrapping (a crucial element of BFC) is good for people writing utility programs, or translating LDraw language. Frequently, we run (...) (22 years ago, 24-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Size of electric plugs (4.5 / 12 V)

I don't have most of these pieces, so I can't really say what's measured correctly or incorrectly. But in this case, I think you should use the correct measurements. Steve (...) (22 years ago, 24-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Storage box and Showroom window finished

(...) That's what I like to hear! (err, read) (...) Cool. :) Steve (22 years ago, 24-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Multiple parts was Re: Mac LDraw Viewer comments

(...) Huh, I'll try again. (...) OpenGL it is then, (...) The wierd combination seems fine with me. Switching modes wouldn't be much fun. (...) Chris (22 years ago, 24-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

  Re: Mac LDraw Viewer comments

(...) No, I didn't have back face culling turned on. Turning on BFC causes the window frames to disappear. Is this because LDViewer is making assumptions about the way the part files that may not be true? I just updated to 10.2.3, and that has (...) (22 years ago, 24-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

  Re: QTVR of a model

For those with a high speed internet connection: (URL) (2.4 M). This is the same model, but it is colored (so it is easier to see). It has about twice as many angles, but it still has the same view bounds. James (22 years ago, 24-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

Re: Outlined part edges in L3P?

(...) If you're gonna do optional lines then it'll only look correct when viewed from one direction. This means you can apply the standard cheat to solve the problem with cutoff cylinders on concave edges. Push all the edge cylinders toward the (...)   Re: QTVR of a model

(...) NO WAY! I haven't gotten the following to work quite right, but here it is. It will generate about 180 of the 360 images it is suppose to. Then it quites rendering. I have no idea why. For some crazy reason, I am telling "POV-Ray Mac 3.5" to (...) (22 years ago, 23-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

  Re: QTVR of a model

(...) Let me guess - you did this the hard way, setting up each image by hand? That's a lot of work... (22 years ago, 23-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

  BrickDraw3D 0.6 source on sourceforge

BrickDraw3D 0.6 will have complete source posted on Sourceforge. I spent 4 hours cleaning up the repository and checking everything in, it was so messed up from my disk crash in February. Sourceforge terms of service do not allow releases without (...) (22 years ago, 23-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

Re: Multiple parts was Re: Mac LDraw Viewer comments

(...) Yes, you just drag from the parts list with the mouse. 0.7 will have translucent drag images. (...) This is due to Apple eliminating QuickDraw3D. What you see in Classic is QuickDraw3D rendering. In Carbon, it is duplicated by Quesa, which is (...) (22 years ago, 23-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

  BFC and details

Questions, questions, questions, yes I know I have lots of questions ;-) How big is the BFC-issue actually? Is it a goal to have (somewhere far in the future) all parts BFC certified? I started to make all the parts I have created BFC compliant. (...) (22 years ago, 23-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Outlined part edges in L3P?

(...) All line type 2 (and some type 5) should be visible. Why not? Edge lines along primitives are harder but not impossible. /Lars (22 years ago, 23-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.inst)

Re: Outlined part edges in L3P?

(...) L3P works on one file at the time (it doesn't walk the tree), and when it processes the model, the parts and submodels have been thrown away. Otherwise you are right. After posting I imagined I would let L3Lab (which walks the tree) generate (...) (22 years ago, 23-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.inst)

Re: Outlined part edges in L3P?

I realized that this suggestion might work fine for rectangular parts, but cylindrical parts won't have edge lines along the cylinder walls, right? Kevin (...) (22 years ago, 23-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.inst)
