Well, my consulting partner and I have decided to split up certs
anyway, so I think I'll be getting the MCDBA first. 2 Exams to go
for that - Admin and Design/Implementation.

Yeah, _everyone_ in my classes earlier this year was amazed that I
was being sent to all that training (and getting exam vouchers) with
no implied or stated commitment on my part to stay with my employer.
'Course, things may be a little different with this being a
governmental educational institution, I don't know. I'm sure if our
legal dept could have crafted some sort of "we train you, you stay
here for 2 years or pay us back and we don't have to increase your
salary by a dime" contract they would have.
Along those lines, the joke around the IT depts on campus is the
fact that, by state _law_, when a secretary passes the CPS exam, he
or she automatically gets a 9% raise. All they have to do is file a
form and bam! it happens. No such provisions for professional
certification in the IT world (for state employees anyway), nor will
there ever be.
Not that I would care - 9% won't quite cut it for me at my current
rate anyway. :)

This calculator is literally the size of a credit card. :) Solar
powered too. Cheap, but then again, the testing centers don't make
squat from that part of the business anyway.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I passed the exam in a little room all by myself.
Should I ever need to design or expand part of our network, I'm sure
I'll be able to reach for a table to help me keep things in
perspective.

Well, I'll leave the projection system for when we settle down and
buy a house. But I have a DVD player in my laptop. :) And it does
output DD 5.1. :) Won't do me much good until I force myself to
order the speakers I want from this place in Canada, but it can do
it. In fact, I'll be using my laptop to watch movies on my parents'
tv this weekend when we visit them on Christmas day. :)
