Only once. I bought a bunch of 8414's, and building one I found a missing
bag of pieces. There was a duplicate bag of other pieces though, so upon
weighing the set seemed complete. Called customer service and received the
missing pieces in three days. I even got to keep the extras. Way to go LEGO!
Can't beat service like that.

Lego is not a toy, it's a way of life. Build on!

I'm just curious if anyone has ever built their newly-bought lego set only
to discover a piece is missing.  I've often been positive partway through
that I was missing one, but I always ended up finding it.

On the other hand, I *always* have a small handful of extra pieces. :)
