Taking points one at a time?
Indeed another difference between us mayap :)

The literal interpretation says that God is the creator.  Does the computer
understand why it is programmed the way it is?  Even if the software writer
told it, would it then even understand?  God's thoughts are farther above ours
than we are above my laptop's.

I should ask, though-
Why don't you buy it?

Because I trust my judgement, and I don't trust the Bible's. The two don't
mesh. For me. And as a result, I'm forced to choose. And I'll choose my
judgement. Go check out the "Problems with Christianity" thread I started a
while back: (December)

Do you have to have a God who tells all and explains all to your satisfaction?

A God? Well, I wouldn't go THAT far :)
But really I'm completely satisfied with the results of my judgement. I'm
left grappling with absoloutely no questions with which I think I can't
answer without simply more and specific physical evidence. Morality?
Covered. Life and death? Covered. Purpose? Covered. History? Covered.
Future? Covered. The universe? Covered. Suffice to say I don't think there's
an area in which I'm not satisified with my self-derived answer, and nowhere
therein is there the same concept of God as that which I think you're
defining. But if you define God differently, maybe... Actually it's really
rather funny interpreting God in such a way as I'd believe in them because
thanks to interpretational differences, it fits perfectly with different
religions when plugging in the different definition of God.

If you are indeed the creation - what right do you have to demand that?

Just to be picky, what's a right? :)

But honestly, what 'right' DO I have according to Biblical beliefs? Do I
have a 'right' to salvation? Do I have the 'right' to DEMAND the opportunity
for salvation from God, as the creation? Would God be WRONG to deny me such?
And if we have no such rights, then so what? Where does that leave us?

Usually this is rejected out of pride, or fear, or some bad experiences...
Honestly - which are you?

I guess you could qualify me under 'pride'...

For example:
"Thou shalt not kill."

Honestly, while that's true for *me*, I find myself being able to imagine a
person for whom killing ISN'T immoral. But that's because I've discovered
that I judge morality based on adherence to one's own moral code, which (you
guessed it) is subject to change within one's lifetime. And that discovery
was found by experimenting with how I felt morally about hypothetical
people. And yet the Bible would dismiss them as being sinners (This works
[for me!] for any of the 10 commandments, really-- or ANY of the moral
principles brought up in either the New or Old Testament). And so I was at a
loss, because I disagreed with the Bible (well, ok, that SPECIFICALLY didn't
happen). And as a result, I'm forced to pick one or the other (or something
new entirely). But I can't take BOTH. And I picked my own judgement.

(...) Biblically - no human has any rights. Just like the laptop that doesn't work (sin), God's righteousness (no sin) demands that we pay for our sin. The only sufficient payment is death. Where that "leaves us" - is destined for eternal separation (...) (24 years ago, 23-Jan-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
