Sorry for clipping all that, but they are fairly common problems with eBay.
We've basically exhausted this topic on RTL, although you do have very valid
points.  The late bidding thing gets into a lot of human psychology, but
eBay needs to make a profit, which means they need to turn over their
inventory quickly.  Also, some sellers like to know they'll get their money
at a set time.

One point of interest in your message--you called eBay another layer that
just takes money out of the Lego communnity.  I don't know about all of you,
but I don't consider eBay a part of the Lego community, nor do I consider
most of the sellers and buyers part of the Lego community.  Especially the
sellers.  All they want is the money.  They don't care about Lego, and I'm
getting tired of all these random messages on RTL from people who never post
saying "I've got such and such on eBay."  Also, you rarely see RTL/Lugnet
people bidding on that stuff.  eBay is not the Lego community if you ask me.

Ok, is it just me, or does the e-bay style of auction actually encourage "unfair"(1) bidding practises? On about 2/3 of the auctions I've participated in, or followed, there has been a similar flow to the bids. Several people bid on it in the first (...)
