Y'know, these ad hominem attacks are quite annoying.

Do y'all think you improve understanding of a pointedly pro-Israel
perspective without providing any kind of REAL argument to favor your views?
James' original assertions were tripe, practically on the face of them.
People don't have to practice anything like my way of life in order for me
to respect their right to live where they have historical rights and in the
manner of their choosing.  Attempting to paint everything in black and white
is an outrage.  Hey, if it takes at least two to tango -- you had better
believe it takes at least two to make war!

I dismiss outright the assertion that either side has ANY MORE RIGHT than
their neighbors to live in that part of the world.  I dismiss outright any
attempt to raise religious beliefs as if they were as rigorous or as
important as historical facts.  I dismiss any attempt to stall talks of
peace simply because of ongoing violence -- the whole point is to STOP THE
VIOLENCE!

The very state of war is dehumanizing, it makes its participants into
something less reasonable than even the most ill-tempered animals.  Neither
side is innocent in this dispute.  Any attempts to pretend otherwise is
obviously propaganda for one side or the other.

I favor peace, and I try very hard to not take sides.  I wish some of you
could do the same.  If everyone did this, we might just achieve that
increasingly rare thing -- peace!

Maybe there is something wrong with me, but I genuinely find people of all
races, ethnicities, and creeds EXTREMELY beautiful and interesting. Given
half a chance, most people will demonstrate their personal beauty and that
of their culture in the most generous manner.  And when one looks underneath
some of the more overreaching and defensive aspects of people's beliefs, one
finds that most people are very much the same everywhere.

Actually believing that some group of people somewhere in the world thinks
and acts in a substantially different manner than oneself is probably some
kind of mental illness.

There is no "Us and Them" -- there is just Us.

(...) The Palestinian people have been taught, almost since birth, to hate Israel and Jews. You can’t find a map in a Palestinian school that shows the nation of Israel. The hatred is deep and intense … and no negotiations or negotiated peace (...) (23 years ago, 18-Apr-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

(...) You are entitled to your own opinion, however wrong it is (as in this case). I've seen that happen lots of times before. -John (23 years ago, 17-Apr-02, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)
