Wow, I though it was just us... I work in a retail collectables shop. While we don't carry lego, our main buisness over the last few years has been high quality diecast model racing cars. I have to say that one of my regular stops reports the same experience. They have cut back substantially on what they carry. Ironically, a small "chain" of Toy Stores (I think 4 stores) that does carry them jacks up the prices ABOVE the listed Lego (...) (22 years ago, 3-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

This is really kind of sad, only because I've heard it so many times. The primary complaints of my local "mah-n-pop" toy store are almost identical to others in this list. But to add my question to this string, why such a small margin for the (...) (22 years ago, 3-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

this must be the case world wide i am suprised more independant retailers don't drop lego as a line.In Australia we are told we can't sell via the net we have to place minimum orders and we must reach a set purchase level each year to keep our (...) (22 years ago, 3-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

It may not be as hopeless for all independent toy store that wish to sell Lego. There is an independent toy store here in Calgary, Alberta that does sell Lego, and they stock quite a bit of Lego. Also, I was able to pick up the Studios Monsters sets (...) (22 years ago, 2-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

I went by our local (favorite) toy store yesterday. They have always carried a great selection of Lego and generally carried some shop at home only sets. There was NO LEGO. A larger question would be why we didn't see a Queen Amidala minifig (in formal costume) as was pictured in the LEGO Episode I logo. Has anyone noticed that LEGO did not make Queen Amadala for the new SW EP II Lego sets? Yes, I know she it not the queen anymore but this upcoming movie revolves around her and ankin and yet we get no minifig! Today we (in Massachusetts, USA) received the special SAH catalog featuring the new SW stuff (and the old stuff). It is a tour-de-force in marketing. Man there are a lot of "funky" colors in these sets. Because this is a license I am sure it is to best match the actual ships/figs etc. so I don't think this was just TLC using colors for the heck of it. Never-the-less I don't know if its a good (...)
