I find none of this terribly surprising. In general, preview opening day
type events are going to draw a huge crowd, and in fact, usually the
company wants a huge crowd so they can get all sorts of oohs and aahs
from the press. Of course, on what is probably one of the biggest days
of their life, they have an almost totally inexperienced crew (ok, many
of them probably do have relevant prior experience, but as someone
having just started a new job, even in the same company, I can tell you
that it isn't easy). They probably did have a few employees on hand from
other facilities (but the need to speak German will be extremely
limiting). Anyone who works in the technology field will sympathize with
the malfunctioning rides. Nothing is ever really tested until real life
hits it.
As far as the Q&A with Brad went, well, that's not too surprising. It
sounds like a lot of questions he can't answer were asked.
