Subject: Unsafe Working Conditions in Lego Direct
Problem:
A number of recent projects undertaken in Lego Direct have resulted in reports
of staff feeling light-headed. Apart from the obvious loss of staff
productivity, there are a number of safety considerations relating to use of
heavy moulding equipment, WWW updates and the risk of collapsing on other
employees.
Solution:
All staff to be issued with heart rate monitors (chest strap with wrist
read-out) and finger-tip blood pressure monitors for early warning of
symptoms. All staff at Lego Direct to be issued with new chairs incorporating
5-point safety harness and neck brace, to provide support in the event of
sudden collapse. Business process re-engineering should be undertaken, in
conjunction with input from occupational therapists, to reduce access to the
Internet in the Lego Direct workplace (note, affected staff often mentioned
use of the Internet in a work context as a possible causal factor). Managers
should regard fun-exposure as a serious adverse risk factor in the
prioritisation and selection of Lego Direct projects, as it too has been
identified as a possible causal factor. Air-conditioning cooling towers should
also be thoroughly disinfected, just in case.
