Regarding the solar powered walker and the mars rover, both are cool looking robots! I find that solar panel particularly interesting. The walker is quite slow, using the LEGO solar cell to power a 5225 9V motor, which drives a worm gear coupled directly to a 24T gear. I've found the LEGO (...) I used to regularly drive LEGO 9V motors at about 12V with no observed damage. I assume the increased power/torque would be proportional to the voltage, i.e. 33% more voltage gets you 33% more power/torque. However, I don't know how to get more than (...) Are you running an AMD Processor on your TX5 ? I found some obscure references that say the logitech software and the LEGO(R) stuff won't run on certain K6's. I think the best solution is to use NO gears. Without the additional friction of the gears and axles through beams, the motors are surprisingly powerful. I have had very good experience with direct drive robots. I suggest that you experiment with (...) (24 years ago, 13-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Tricky , Tricky, here's the dilly, 8 to 24 tooth makes the fastest, but low output power, try to find the proper combo so your motors don't work to hard, add a worm gear to hold off the back spin, then try some more gears to get the speed you need, (...) (...) Strictly speaking, there is a difference, physically, between the 1.0 and the 1.5 or 2.0 RCX (I have a 1.0 and a 2.0). The 1.0 has an external power jack. That's the one. I used the low pressure version to get the 1/2 watt rating I.E. 5VDC @ 100mA. It works, but it has a few drawbacks....It's a traditional 3 way valve (Com, NO, NC) so it doesn't vent the same way the Lego valves do, you'd need two to (...) With the news of steep discounts on the Droid developer kit, I located fours sets at a CompUSA in Austin, and bought them all at $29.99 each. I'm sorry to say that I don't have anny suggestions, just some more info to consider. I imagine that the difference between RIS1.5 and RIS2.0 will be the software.
