I was just thinking, what are the things I like on Lugnet.  It comes
down to two things.  rtl and excellent MOCs.

Maybe I haven't explored the extents of lugnet to the right degree, but
the one thing I'd like is a highlight mechanism for MOCs only.

When I do venture to the main page, the thing I'm looking for in the Top
Stories is MOCs.  I know any MOC that's made it there is going to be
good.  The problem is I get sucked into some pointless colour, TLC
sucks, Jake can't say anything without getting jumped on conversation.

I think it would be cool to have a second Top MOCs column on the main
page.  If someone announces a MOC in whatever group, if people like it
they can highlight it as a MOC and it would appear on the main page for
further recognition.

With something like this I could enjoy the aspects of Lugnet I love and
avoid the less interesting conversions that keep getting a lot of
undeserved attention.

A very, very good idea!  Afterall, the MOCs and the subsequent sharing of
techniques and ideas were primarily what Lugnet was all about!

Though I am not a very active poster, I do lurk and read alot of the posts and
the elevated levels of vitriol over rather juvinile things has me more than a
bit concerned.  (I mean really, why is the kind of grey used by lego that
shockingly critical to a person's lego design talent?  And why the hell can't
anyone leave Jake alone?)  I really do not want to see the LUGNET community all
but dissappear because of the obsessive bickering of a few that seemingly
dominates the highlights section.  If garbage like that is what gets the
attention rather than the latest awesome MOC, then yeah, people are going to get
disillusioned and people are going to leave.

Admittedly I say this for more personal reasons because Lugnet is really the
only place where I can see excellent designs from other people and get some real
feedback during the rare moments when I post a MOC of my own.  (Which I'm hoping
to do more in the upcoming year!)
