No, and it was voluntary, AFAIK. He took the initiative to be the community
liaison and while I don't know exactly what happened, my impression was that he
pitched his superiors on the idea of being that link.
I'm the kind of guy at work who tends to stick his neck out for something I
believe in. But if someone was to wantonly slag something I took the effort to
try and grow, I'm not sure how enthusiastic I'd be next time around. (Actually,
I do know how enthusiastic I'd be...not at all. I've had it happen a few times
now.)

If Jake doesn't quit, there's always the possibility his management will give up
on it. For example, the "community" of FLL for example, is a much larger, less
irritating and more visible outing. If I were assigning resources, I'd rather
have my people working on highly visible, positive, good image projects like
First Lego League versus keeping the whiny nerds with their adolescent ranting
at bay.
I'll sign up first at the Fan of Jake table. You can't help but want to support
a guy who, I think honestly is trying his hardest and doing something he
believes in.
