This is a reference to the TV show Happy Days.
The show was good for a few years, but it eventually started getting gimmicky
and went down in quality. This first became apparent when they made an episode
about Fonzi jumping his motorcycle over a tank of water with a shark in it. This
episode and all episodes after it were generally worse than all episodes that
came before it. For a lot of people, the "jump the shark" episode was the
turning point where the show began to go downhill from the level of quality it
once had.
The term "jumping the shark" is used for any pivotal moment where something goes
from being good to being bad.
For example, Metallica jumped the shark when they released the black album. LEGO
Castle jumped the shark in 1992.
