Privatisation also has a history of making stuff a hell of a lot more
expensive. Frex, the trains system here has been privatised a few
years ago. Now, the gummint has to pay the NS more money to support
them, than that the loss used to be when it was still wholly gummint
owned. _And_ most of the non-profitmaking lines to outlying regions
are being kicked. And why is that bad? because we're trying to reduce
car-use around here, and if there's no reasonable Public Transport
alternative, making cars more expensive [1] simply doesn't help.

[1] Gas is well over $1 per _liter_ here. USAnians complain about high
prices of $1 per gallon, which is over 4 liters IIRC. Car prices are
less inflated, but still more expensive.

(...) No, it requires luggage handling equipment that does not mangle luggage. Most rips occur because the equipment is not properly designed, or was not properly maintained.
