Does L3P support the gold-chrome color of coins, the bugle, the new 2x4 bricks, etc? I know that color 334 is recommended, but I don't use LGEO, and when I process a model through L3P color 334 comes out as sort of a dark orange and decidedly not (...) (19 years ago, 4-Dec-05, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Thanks to both of you. Just for me, I would be completely satisfied if LDView shows (and exports to clipboard) full 4*4 trafo matrix instead of 3*3 matrix as it does in current version. Version 3 follows. All parts need to be replaced. I fixed the cracks. I removed trailing zeros. I changed the precision to 4 decimals. I inset the teeth a tiny little bit to hide the convex backside. The problem is that L3P doesn't allow for arbitrary camera positioning, so there's no way to convert LDView's arbitrary camera position into an L3P command line. Specifically, (...) Hi I am using it and I am really glad I've found it. But some models (or details) require better rendering, so I use POV-Ray. In POV, pinpointing exact camera_position and camera look_at parameters just by typing coordinates is real pain even when (...) (19 years ago, 2-Dec-05, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Sorry I missed this in my first reply, but I just noticed. There's a minor modeling glitch that's resulting in extra polygons on one side (but not the other). (...) No, it's not an issue. Within a reasonable amount of error, of course. If subfiles are positioned orthoganally to each other, there should be no alignment errors. To make the Hailfire Gear, I modeled one segment with one fin in 3DS Max. I exported it with the script I previously posted. Then, I spun the segment around with the following code. (...) I'd recommend taking a balanced approach to nested sub-filing. A 48x48 area of studs could be NSF'ed to 22 lines of code, but would require 10 very trivial subfiles. (...) It looks like you can't post DAT files in FTX mode; you have to use Plain Text, as the file is still scrambled. As for the part itself, you definitely want to create sub-part for a single blade, and then reference that sub-part 8 times in the (...) (19 years ago, 30-Nov-05, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

LDraw primitives are such that a smart converter can use aribtrary complexity for cylinders, spheres, tori, etc. Having said that, it doesn't sound (...) Hi I'm working on a couple of LDraw parts, and need know a way to calculate a rotation matrix that corresponds to a quad (triangle), so that I can place a 1-4 edge.dat on it at the correct angle: Can anyone tell me how to do it? I think the naming convention we had had before the .ldr extension, with officicial models named m926.dat and so on, solves this problem. So I suggest you name (...) I agree and disagree with this. I agree that it would be good (for now) if L3P only substituted LGEO parts for files with a .dat extension. hi lars, looks like L3P doesn't distinguish between part-files (.dat) and scene-files (.ldr) when I use LGEO parts. have a look at the following pic. when I render a .mpd (which containes the subfile 926.ldr refering to the sets number) without LGEO (...)
