KCS (?) used these cars in coal fields in Kansas and Arkansas and presumably intended them as dual-purpose equipment. They were built in the company shops in Pittsburgh, KANSAS and were used in service until the '80s. As for other lines using this (...) (25 years ago, 9-Sep-99, to lugnet.trains)

I still like the door open trick. It makes me beleive that the doors really open and close! Keep using those decals. Compare the State of Maine box car and the Union Refrigerated cars; same design, but the State of Maine box car is a LEGO plain (...) (25 years ago, 8-Sep-99, to lugnet.trains)

It loaded fine for me here at work, but I know for a fact it won't load at home, even though I am using Communicator 4.61 at both locations, both on NTWS 4.0 SP4. But the extra width can be as little as 4 inches a side (in fact on some spine cars it's 0) which in a total width of 10 feet is less than LEGO resolution. The 6-tracklength width of the tables is indeed a fundamental issue as it essentially determines the number of parallel lines without adding extra tables. The parts are train doors (L & R), 2x3 and 4x3 train windows, the glass to go with the windows and doors (these are separate #'s), and old-style sliding doors as in 7722 (I think) and accompanying track pieces. Color is unknown, at least to me, but (...) (25 years ago, 29-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)
