Although I have several of the train door sliding type 1
http://home.att.net/~partsref/images/4511.gif I really like what others have
done with the non operating doors set out 1/2 brick.
I came up with the following way to hang a 1x8 brick door flush against a wall,
and yet allow it to slide.
No photos but please use the following description to try it out. (Thanks to
Steve Bliss for the images)
Part A is brick 1x4 with groove http://home.att.net/~partsref/images/2653.gif
Part B are hinge 1x2 base http://home.att.net/~partsrefg/images/3931.gif, place
these with the good side (taller) facing out.
Now to the crude drawing
Part A
Part B 1x4 plate Part B
Then your 1x8 brick wall underneath
This then hangs nicely on the plate 1x8 with door rail
http://home.att.net/~partsref/images/4510.gif
I didn't have time to try it out on the track, (was called away for a
delivery, what a pain when work interferes with Lego!) but it seemed solid
enough in the mock up. I suspect the bottom will also need the 1x4 with
groove.
The next question is in what sets can you find these elusive 1x4 pieces, there
are two black ones in the 2126.
Let me know what you think. I found a way to anchor the bottom piece to the
track, but it isn't very pretty and would like to hear other suggestions,
although I am not sure this is really necessary.
