The fact that I agree with you about current quality level does not in
any way disprove my thesis. If you actually understood the scientific
method instead of cheering sproat when he takes pot shots at it, you'd
have a better chance of doing so. :-)
Yes, current trains suck. But does 4558? Does 7745? I don't think so.
Those are what I want to run and I want my own creations to fit in.
(actually it's more like I want TLG models to fit in with my own
creations, my stuff dominates in quantity...)
You know darn well that no matter how nice an individual box car looks,
by itself, it looks funny next to the 4563 engine or any other decent 6
wide. And I want to run that engine, and the Croc and so forth. So 8
wide is out for me.
Also, and this may sound strange coming from me, 6 wide is cheaper. It
takes less bricks in total and less hard to come by pieces.
Finally, there is the curvature issue. even 6 wide cars look funny on
curves if they get too long. At 33% larger scale the effect is even
worse.
